PATSY – a heroic sheepdog #2
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Mong Tuong and I am the story teller of Phuc Khang Corporation – the Green Building Developer. You are listening to the program “1001 green things”. Phuc Khang expects what is happening in our world to be told in “1001 green things” in order to “touch” and to “wake up” the love in the audiences. Then, the concept about the green and sustainable lifestyle will surely be spread and educated. Today, I will tell you the story about “PATSY – A HEROIC SHEEPDOG”
Patsy please help us.
Grim Reaper is approaching us. Such devastating bushfires are burying us all.
All, all of us.
Patsy please please help us.
We feel so impotent that we do not have the knowledge or ability to do anything. Only do we beg for help from Patsy.
She is our savior, our sole heroine at this moment in time. Unless we trust her, we will be burnt to ashes by the fatal flame. She will lead us to a safe place. Yes, it’s her, at this moment in time.
And we are running … running like the sunbeam. What lies ahead is life, is safeness, is where we can save our little souls. The peaceful and calm forest behind us is in flames, emitting hot and flesh burning rays which are not of life but of death.
Our friends are stuck in the dusty and smoky field where we used to play and live when it was still green and calm. The smell of smoke and things overburnt irritates our noses. All is burnt by somebody’s mindlessness, inanity and irresponsibility.
And now, we are trembling, silent, observing planes drop water to change the situation, looking at the water from the planes fight the burning flames. They are making a lot of efforts to keep our friends, our green homes and us protected.
And life will then become peaceful again. Our friends will return to the mysterious pure and green forest. We will resume being ourselves, playing and living on the blade of green and peaceful grass. We will be again filled with joy. At that point, I will jump over my brother’s back to confirm my own growth.
And Patsy – our heroic sheepdog will be back to her guarding posture, observing us in silence, sometimes wagging her tail in delight, sometimes drawing her glance at all of us. Patsy will resume being a strict proctor, slightly frowning as we bypass her curtailments. Patsy will be like a firm elder sister, clearing throat to remind us of being too much naughty or conflicting. And our lives will be back to normal.
It is what will happen in the following days, it is hope, it is our expectation. And now, Patsy is neither a strict proctor nor a firm sister. Patsy is a warrior, a “godmother”. Patsy is sitting still, looking at each and everyone of us dozing off after a day of feeling frightened and exhausted. The shelter which Patsy found for us is small but safe and warm. We are lying tightly close to each other, trying to feel the warmth, listening to the rhythm of our heartbeats to confirm that we are still alive.
Thanks, Patsy – our warrior!

Ladies and gentlemen,
Thank you for listening to our story about PATSY – a heroic sheepdog. We do believe that animals also have compassion. They also need to be cared for, to be protected. They also long for a peaceful and beautiful life. Whether forest fire is by nature or by humans causes not only damage for people but also threat to all living species. Forest fire causes not only damages to properties and lives but also imbalance in ecology and lack of oxygen for life … The most important thing is that we MUST build necessary awareness and actions to protect lives of all living species, including ours. Together we protect forests – the lungs of our beloved Earth.
Our next story in “1001 green things” will be about teddy bears. Are you dumping your teddy bears outdoors or somewhere? If you are, you will have second thoughts after listening to our story.
