Trapped #11
You are now listening to the Green Blog of Phuc Khang Corporation – The pioneer Green Building Developer in Vietnam. In this broadcast, we would like to tell you a story named “TRAPPED”.
I was disentangled and carried to a luxurious villa on a car. Two guard dogs in uniforms were standing solemnly and presentably.
I was taken through a door and straight into an enormous villa. A deafening loud party is being held in the yard. Invited guests in magnificent party-wear suits were standing around a pool. But, there might be something wrong. They all were in the forms of animals. Was this a disguise festival? None of them was human. Monkeys, squirrels, junglefowls, mynahs, porcupines, peacocks and pheasants were dancing while rhinos and elephants were playing music. Bison, boars and mountain goats were grilling meat. All were animals! Confirmed! They were all animals …
I stepped in, they all stopped, staring at me. I was then taken to a bird cage. They left me with a cup of water at the cage corner. I did not know where I was. What I knew for sure was that I was the only human here.
A few moments later, a wild horse arrived, dragged me out of the cage, then pushed me into a large hall. A big lion was sitting imposingly and arrogantly. I saw tigers, snakes, elephants, deer, foxes, boars, dogs … They were all keeping their eyes on me, making me spine-chilling. I was taken to the center of the hall. I was experiencing feelings of being a sinner, or something for them to tear apart, a booty or a prisoner of war … My angst posed thousands of questions in my mind in front of cold-blooded animals.
Hosted by the lion, all animals started discussing how to execute me. A boar in the chef’s uniform first said from behind: “This one should be for slaughter, but it needs to be well nourished. Then, we will cook a hearty meal for everybody.” As the boar was done talking, a giant snake slithered around, flicking its tongue and approached me. “I need to experiment on it for my new medicine and products. I need it.” An old bear agreed. “Exactly, people often use gallbladders of bears and snakes to make medicine to enhance health and physiology; therefore, we reserve the right to use its to make our medicine.”
Not only the boar, the snake, the bear but also the fox, the weasel and the rabbit added suggestions. “We are often hunted by humans for their clothes and luxurious fashion. we can barely understand why they are addicted to clothes made our leather and bones. Now, we suggest making a fashion collection from their skin so that they can feel what we have suffered.” The monkey and the elephant contended for me: “Objection. Instead of killing it, let us tame it to become a professional circus performer. Then, it can entertain us every day. Besides, we pull its teeth to make our accessories.” The tiger next to the lion roared to interrupt the monkey and the elephant. “You guys are too noisy. Just do what you want. But I am in need of a rug, so its skin is mine. I also get his bones to make drugs for my foot massage.”
The fox really got angry with the tiger. Other animals kept raising the voice in order to get a piece of me. I was trembling with fear of their intentions. What have I done to make myself guilty? Why did I get lost in the world full of anger and wrath from feral, semi-feral and red list of threatened species? They were surrounding me as if I were a booty, a dish, an ornament, an entertainer or a lab pet. They were returning what people had treated them to me myself. It was like “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” for a long time. I was disputed and they – huge rulers - were tackling each other to take me like a ball on a football pitch.
Having the feeling of being hunted and executed by the animals, I covered my face with fear. Suddenly from nowhere, some gurgling streams and chirping birds startled me. I sat up, making an effort to compose myself, sweating buckets. I was beside my friends who went camping the day before. We stayed here for a night. I unzipped the tent, walked outside, enjoyed the fresh air in the morning to calm myself down after such nightmare. The sun was shining, and its early rays glimmered through the crown of green young leaves. I closed my eyes, feeling my feet standing firm on the ground covered with soft dry leaves. Leaning against a big trunk, feeling the roughness of the wood, I gazed at the head of a beautiful stream shrouded in mist. On the crown, there were some green buds like jades and some dew on the leaves dropped onto my shoulders. Living in harmony with the pure nature was really refreshing and relaxing. I asked myself whether I had just suffered a nightmare or heard a horrible warning from Mother Nature about the survival of threatened feral species.

Ladies and gentlemen,
What you have just heard is a nightmare of a character in the story “TRAPPED”. But in reality, it may be “a real nightmare” to all species. It is the human greed and selfishness that cause “the dreadful nightmare”, the wrath and anger of all species. Humans hunt animals for their leather to make lavish costumes. They hunt all species to the verge of extinction, rhinos for horns, elephants for tusks, monkeys for brains, bears and snakes for gallbladders to make medicine bigotedly. And many more other greedy selfish activities of mankind inspired terror and pain in all species. If we long for a peaceful life, so do all species of animals. Only when humans love the nature and know how to live in peace with all species on earth, do we dream of a green and sustainable life.
In the next broadcast, Green Blog will tell you an interesting story named “Return us to where we belong”. Whose desire is it? What’s happened to the main character in the story, so he has to make a pathetic insistence on being appropriately placed.
You are cordially welcomed to our next broadcast.
Goodbye and see you again.
